Amy Edwards

executive Director

Amy has thirty years of wide-ranging experience in the corporate finance workplace, in the homeschool educational commu­nity, and in Christian children’s and women’s ministry. She is a founding partner and publisher at Blue Sky Daisies, an independent publisher of over forty-five books. Originally from Topeka, Amy graduated from Wheaton College with a Bachelor of Arts in Business/Economics. After six years working in corporate finance here in Wichita, she stepped away from the office to focus on motherhood. She spent sixteen years leading and teaching in a homeschool co-op, where she taught literature, history, and other subjects. Amy and her family are active members of Evangel Presbyterian Church, where Amy serves in women’s ministry. She and her husband Howard have five children: Hope, Sydney, Lane, and Tobias are now adults, and Lydia is a ninth-grade homeschooler. Amy is deeply passionate about CPT’s mission to build Christ-like character through the performing arts.

Dean Owens

Artistic Director

Dean has been a theater dad since the first year of CYT WICHITA. All three of his girls graduated through the program with wonderful memories of CYT. Through that decade, he has served as drama instructor, technical director and those experiences combined with decades of youth ministry have allowed him to grow into a full production director. He studied Business Management at Friends University which allowed him opportunities to assist in starting a church, open a partnership business, operate a concert ministry all while developing a career as General Sales Manager for a Fortune 500 aerospace materials company. He has been married to his wife, Audra, for over 28 years. They also own and operate nOtsOnOrmAl Events and Entertainment for weddings, banquets, concerts, and the prom alternative, the nOtsOnOrmAl fOrmAl. His passion for youth to live boldly for Christ is what drives his vision for Christian Performance Theatre. artisticdirector@cptheatre.org


 

Nicole Cox

artistic program manager

Nicole is an educator, choreographer, and dynamic creative with a rich history in the performing arts. She has been a member of the Christian Performance Theatre community for over thirteen years serving as a parent, teacher, and choreographer. Some of her choreography credits include Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Peter Pan, Elf, and Annie. She has also instructed over 50 classes and volunteered on multiple show committees. She enjoys working with students of all ages and celebrates growth in performance skills and character development. Nicole and her husband Marc have been married for 20 years and have three children: Faith, Micah, and Rylee. As a champion for the unique role that Christian Performance Theatre plays in the Wichita arts community, Nicole is committed to cultivating an edifying environment that encourages innovation and excellence while fostering artistic and spiritual growth. Cheryl Doeden

Office Administrator

A native of Wichita, Cheryl Doeden has been a part of the fine arts community from an early age. Trained on the viola, she participated in Wichita Youth Orchestras during junior and senior high school. She graduated from Tabor College with a Music Performance degree in viola and a minor in voice. She played with the Wichita Symphony for many years. It was at Tabor that she met her husband-to-be, Brad. Since then, she took on the new roles of mother and homeschool teacher to eight children, and more recently grandma to 21! Gratefully, in 2009 she saw her prayers for Christian Youth Theater to come to Wichita answered. She and her family have been involved ever since in various ways. Cheryl is thrilled to continue helping families now through Christian Performance Theatre. She and her family are active members of Evangel Presbyterian Church.

Now Hiring a Development Manager

To support the future of Christian Performance Theatre’s mission, we are now hiring a Development Manager. We are looking for someone inspired by our mission to build Christ-like character through education and participation in the performing arts who will help us develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan. As part of this endeavor, the Development Manager will cultivate and maintain donor relationships, identify and apply for grants, and plan, execute, and oversee fundraising events.
